My eye doctor is awesome

Today we noticed that Cullen's pupil wasn't retracting so I called my optometrist and he saw us right away. Dr. Barr is the same doctor who saw that I had bleeding in my eyes and swollen optic nerves, sending me to a retina doctor who diagnosed my PTC.

He looked at Cullen's eye pretty carefully and said there is a tiny tear in the iris and lots of white blood cells in the aqueous part of the eye causing inflammation. I didn't know you could see white blood cells in the eye - that's really interesting. Cullen is starting steroid eye drops and will go back in a week for reevaluation and possibly a referral to the retina specialist to make sure there are no holes or tears at the edges of the retina.

The injury to Cullen's eye happened earlier this week when he was struck in the orbit by a tennis ball. It wasn't even his partner that hit the ball, it came from a neighboring court!

If you're anywhere near the Annapolis or Kent Island area you could not go wrong with Dr. Barr as your doctor. He's been treating my family and me since before Cullen was born and he's gotten us through some difficult eye problems.

He's got a special deal if you donate to a local charity, be sure to check it out.
