Rabies, rabies and more rabies

In Maryland there are attempts to curb the rabies in the wildlife population by putting oral vaccine in bait and leaving where the wildlife will find it and become immunized. Raccoons, skunks, foxes, groundhogs and bats can carry rabies and appear to be quite healthy, which can lead to serious problems.

I may have mentioned that back in the 90's there was a raccoon that was acting suspicious at our barn and we locked it in a stall and called animal control. The people that came out to look at it thought it was a pet that had gotten loose and approached it, at which point it started spinning in circles, biting at itself and spraying foamy saliva everywhere.

They had to shoot it and the whole thing was pretty traumatic. I think we had to reimmunize Rufus, the Dobie that was at the barn at the time.

With that in mind I have to wonder what in the world this woman is thinking.

She does exactly what the url says. I am almost too horrified to look at the pictures. It gives me the shivers.
